Green Material
Green waste materials are going to provide nitrogen for the Decomposers in your compost pile. Here's a short list of good sources of green waste material:
Grass clippings that haven’t been treated with chemicals
Yard trimmings
Lawn and garden weeds without seeds
Fruit and vegetable scraps
Kitchen waste (such as egg shells, peelings and plant residues)
Flowers
Coffee grounds
Farm animal manure
Hair - In a family full of girls, we provide a LOT of hair into our compost pile.
As you can see, there's a lot of options for green waste materials. The main thing is to try not to include items that have been treated with chemical or have seeds that will spread and sprout into your compost pile.
Let's talk about the Brown Waste Material next.
