What Not To Put In Compost Pins
There are several items that should never go into your compost bin. I've talked briefly about this in other sections but now I'm going to get into it.
Here's 8 materials that should never go into your compost pile:
Diseased or insect-infected plants
Pet waste
Meat and animal products
Plants that spread by rhizomes or roots
Weeds with seeds on them
Poisonous plants
Fat, grease or oils
Dairy products
Why can't these items go into your compost pile? Well, you want clean items that are going to break down easily.
Diseased, infected or poisonous plants are going to infect the future of your garden spot. So, you definitely don't want to make an organic matter out of those materials.
Meat and dairy products as well as fat, grease or oils are not going to break down well. So, they will just be a mess.
Finally, pet (and human) waste is not good for your compost pile either.
